Thunder Bay goaltender made 31 saves to lead his team into Round 2 of the SIJHL playoffs against the Kam River Fighting Walleye.

Fort Frances avoided elimination, doubling up Thunder Bay on home ice on Saturday night to even their best-of-seven SIJHL quarterfinal at three games apiece.

Thunder Bay scored three unanswered goals to erase a 5-4 Lakers lead and take a 3-2 series lead into Game 6 on Saturday night.

Kam River scored a 6-0 win in Game 3 of their best-of-seven series to take a 3-0 series lead. Thunder Bay, who rallied late to force overtime, edged Fort Frances 5-4 and Red Lake took a 2-1 series lead with a win over Sioux Lookout.

Kam River and Red Lake also earned victories on Saturday night in SIJHL playoff action.

Matthew Lysak scored twice and Keenan Marks made 42 stops to lead Thunder Bay past Dryden 7-1 on Saturday night.

Kam River and Dryden continued their winning ways with Saturday night triumphs.

Sioux Lookout and Red Lake also pulled out one-goal wins on Friday night as the playoff race tightened in the SIJHL.

Team will head to North Bay for provincials, which run from March 3 to March 5.
