“A mother’s hug is felt long after she lets go.”

Nola-Jane Fenlon passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with her daughters by her side. Four days prior, she was thrilled to attend her granddaughter’s wedding.  An event she had looked forward to for the past year.

Nola was born on July 22, 1935 in Port Arthur, Ontario; the only child of parents Harry and Kathleen Lepper.  She attended Prospect Public School and Port Arthur Collegiate High School. She went on to study laboratory technology at the University of Toronto, and began her career at the Port Arthur General Hospital. It was there where she met the love of her life, Patrick who she always said “travelled around the world to steal her heart”.

Nola and Patrick were married on June 22, 1963, and welcomed two daughters, Kathleen and Maureen. They spent 58 wonderful years together, raising their family in a beautiful neighbourhood where friends were considered family.  Nurturing her children and providing a supportive, loving home were Nola’s priorities. She always put the needs of others before her own.

She was the quintessential grandmother to Emily, Isabel, Michael and Amy. She adored them and instilled in them the importance of kindness, compassion, patience and generosity. She played, read, baked, cheered, comforted, and laughed with them. She loved them all unconditionally.

Nola was a long-time member of Lakeview Presbyterian Church. Her strong, unwavering faith guided her through many of life’s challenges.

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Rod) Delaney, grandchildren Emily and Isabel (Aaron) Hodgson, and her daughter Maureen (Andrew) Dillon, grandchildren Michael and Amy. She was predeceased by her father Harry (1944 -WW11), mother Kathleen (1988), and husband Patrick (2021).

Nola’s love will live on in the hearts of her family. She will be remembered for her selflessness, compassion and grace.  God Bless you, and thank you mom.

We recognize with gratitude Dr. Marion, Dr. Kolobov, Dr. Ward, and nurses Robert, Martin, Val, Gina, Hailey, MacKenzie, and Carlie at TBRHSC, and the staff of the TCU for their wonderful care and compassion.

Funeral services for Nola-Jane Fenlon will be held on Monday, July 28th at 11:00 am at Lakeview Presbyterian Church – 278 Camelot Street - with the Rev. Markus Arseneault officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lakeview Presbyterian Church or a local charity of your choice would be appreciated.

“May the road rise to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face; The rains fall soft upon your fields.

And, until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
