It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Philip Paul Ferrara after a 3 year courageous battle with brain cancer on July 11 2025 at St. Joesph's Hospital in Thunder Bay.

While going through his treatments the past few years his sense of humour was still there and would wake up each day with a smile on his face refusing to let cancer take away his love of life.

Paul as he preferred to be called was born on May 22 1973 in Brockville Ontario to Philip Ferrara Sr. and Irene Homer. At a young age his family moved to Thunder Bay Ontario where he attended such schools as St. Peter's, McKellar, Selkirk and Hammarskjold High School.

Throughout his life he travelled throughout Canada mostly by train which he absolutely loved and would stop to camp along the way. While on the road the cities that have 7/11's (the day he passed) he always made sure to stop for their Chester Chicken which he raved about even years after living in a city without one.

Paul had love for nature so much so that he worked for Greenpeace while living in Winnipeg Manitoba in the 90's. His greatest passion in life however was playing guitar which many people that knew him rarely seen him without one. His busking career spanned over 30 years and brought so much joy to his life and others that would hear him play. His other talent was cooking and he always looked forward to Spaghetti Sunday's which he'd spend most of the day in the kitchen tending to his homemade sauce which he took pride in. Paul was an exceptionally smart man who was a book of knowledge. He would read sets of Encyclopedia's and would know the answer to pretty much anything someone would ask him.

Just 8 months before his passing he moved with his partner from Thunder Bay to Sault Ste Marie which he automatically fell in love with the city and was happy to call it home.

He will be forever missed by his fiancee Meagan Matson whom he shared the last 5 years of his life with. Also survived by daughter Zea Ferrara and sister Wendy Ferrara as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends especially Terrance Young whom he was friends with for nearly 40 years. He is predecesced by his parents Philip Ferrara Sr. and Irene Homer as well as his grandparents and other relatives.

As per Paul's wishes there will be no funeral. A special thank you goes out to Sargeant & Son's Funeral Home for taking care of his cremation and sending him back home to Sault Ste Marie just as he had wanted. In lieu of donations it would be greatly appreciated to send them to The Canadian Cancer Society of Canada.
