FORT FRANCES —  Riverside Health Care and the Northwestern Health Unit has declared that the respiratory outbreak in the Rainycrest Long Term Care Home’s east wing to be over last Friday.

The virus spread to the east wing on July 23, one day after it was first declared in the west wing.

With the outbreak over, restrictions are no longer in effect for visitors and residents, according to a media release issued by the health-care organization on Aug. 8.

All units have also resumed normal operations.

“Our detailed safety procedures and infection prevention control practices are in place, designed to ensure the health and safety of our staff, the community and those within our care,” Riverside Health Care said in a news release.

However, the health-care organization reminded all to remain diligent in self-screening for illnesses before visiting friends or family members.
