FORT FRANCES – A respiratory outbreak at Rainycrest Long-Term Care has now spread to the east wing, just one day after it was first declared in the west wing.
Riverside Health Care confirmed the initial outbreak on Monday, followed by an expansion to the east wing on Tuesday.
As a result, the enhanced safety measures are now in effect across the facility to protect residents.
Current measures include:
-
Visitor Restrictions: A maximum of two visitors per resident at a time. Visitors must stay in the resident’s room and avoid shared spaces like lounges or dining areas. Only one resident may be visited per trip.
-
Mandatory Masking: All visitors are required to wear medical masks throughout their visit. In some situations, staff may request additional protective equipment, such as face shields, based on risk level.
-
Symptom Screening: Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms is asked to stay home and postpone their visit.
-
Suspension of Group Activities: All large group social activities in affected areas have been paused until further notice.
These measures have been put in place in coordination with the Northwestern Health Unit. Riverside’s outbreak management team is actively monitoring the situation and working closely with public health officials to limit the spread.
The situation remains under close surveillance, and further updates will be shared as needed.
