Fort Frances – Riverside Health Care has declared a respiratory outbreak in the west wing of the Rainycrest Long-term Care home.
As a result of the outbreak, Riverside Health Care has implemented several restrictions to ensure the safety of all individuals within the facility.
The number of visitors allowed per resident has been limited to two at a time. Visitors are also asked to see only one resident during each visit and to conduct visits within resident rooms rather than shared spaces such as lounges or dining areas.
All visitors are required to wear medical masks throughout the duration of their visit. In certain cases, additional protective measures, such as the use of face visors, may also be requested by staff depending on the situation and level of risk.
To further strengthen infection control, anyone showing signs of flu-like symptoms, is advised not to visit the facility during this time.
In addition to visitor restrictions, large group social activities for residents living in the affected west wing have been suspended until further notice.
This declaration was made in coordination with the Northwestern Health Unit, and precautionary measures have been swiftly put in place to help prevent the further spread of illness among residents, staff, and visitors.
The outbreak management team continues to monitor the situation closely and is working alongside public health officials to manage the outbreak.
The situation remains under active surveillance, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
