It is with profound sadness that the family of Roger LeRoy Zeigler announce his passing on August 4, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his family by his side.

Roger was born September 15, 1946, in Belmond Iowa. He grew up on a farm there and after high school started his career at Kanawah Elevators. In 1982 Roger immigrated to Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada where he worked for the Ministry of Transportation. After a lengthy career with the Ministry, Roger started his own business combining his passion for working in Northern First Nation Communities and teaching heavy equipment operation. Roger was a long-time member of the Kakabeka Falls Tired Iron Club and enjoyed working on old tractors and small engines. Nothing, however, compared to how much he loved all things John Deere. His friends and family could always count on a friendly conversation about his John Deere tractors. Roger and his wife Margaret lived in Gillies township for many years where they were always proud of their children and grandchildren, and large garden. Roger deeply loved his family and was always teaching his grandchildren about tools and fixing things.

Roger is survived by his loving wife Margaret, and dog Bella, his children Heather Hauge (Todd), Terry Zeigler, Charlene Hele (Murray), Loretta Stanish (Bryan), Colette Hele (Scott). Grandchildren Kyla Morin (Matt), Jordan Hamilton, Ashton Romano, Dakota Hunt, Jayden Romano (Sergio), Alex Hauge (Ben), Andrew Hunt (Sarina), Autumn Hauge, Andrew Stanish, and Jamie Stanish. Great grandson Dawson Morin. Sister Carol Mallory.

Roger was predeceased by his parents Art and Ruby Zeigler, in-laws Harvey and Theresa Shannon, and great-granddaughter Shalyn Hele. Roger is also survived by many friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at the Kakabeka Falls Legion Sunday, Sept 17 from 1 pm to 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
