Mr. Robert Edward Fenton, 77 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday May 25, 2025.
Bob was born in Fort Frances on February 17, 1948. He moved to Thunder Bay in 1960. He was a member of Animaki Wazhing No.37 First Nation. Despite only obtaining a grade eight education in his younger years, as an adult, Bob graduated from Confederation College from the Native Family Worker program, then went on to graduate from Lakehead University with a degree in Sociology/Indigenous Learning, with a minor in Religious Studies. Bob was proud of his culture and was involved in many indigenous organizations. He enjoyed volunteering in many different areas.
Bob is survived by his sons Bob Jr (Michelle) and Curtis (Lindsay); much loved grandsons Bobby, Cohen and Braden; siblings Keith (Alta), Patricia, Donald and Ken; nephews and nieces Keith Jr., Lenore, James, Christopher, Michael and Tricia; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents John and Edna Fenton, Edward and Mary Lyons; parents Robert (1974) and Patricia "Dolly" (nee Lyons) (1992) Fenton; sister Elaine (2004); as well as close aunts, uncles and cousins.
As per Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery with his parents and sister.
A celebration of life will be held in his honour on Friday, June 6th from 1 to 3pm at the Castlegreen Community Centre. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
