It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother Johanna (Joanie) Frances Bannon-Boucher on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the age of 88 years old.

Johanna was born and raised on Fort William First Nation and spent many years working as a cook with the Seafarers international Union of Canada. Johanna loved to spend time going to yard sales, searching for treasures at the sally ann, playing bingo, picking blueberries, and spending time at her camp in Brule Bay telling stories and drinking tea with her besties, Irene Harper and Dorothy Solomon.

Johanna is survived by her children, Dwight (Liz), Joan (Wayne), Wendy, Warren and Simone, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and brother Brian Bannon (Joanne).

She is predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Mary Bannon, daughters Francine, Arlene and Gail, son Mark and infant son Lawrence at birth, grandchildren Neil Yantz and Jody Bannon, and siblings Michael, Bruce, Clifford, Joseph, David, Leo Sr., Cheryl, Agatha, Virginia, Jean, Rosemary, Lillian and a baby at birth.

Visitation for Johanna will take place starting at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with prayers offered at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow. Funeral services will then be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, in St. Anne’s church at 11:00 am celebrated by Deacon Victor Pelletier, with interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. A reception will follow after the service at the FWFN Community Center.
