On Friday, August 1st, 2025, Joan Johnson (Talarico) passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side.
At a young age her family moved to Marathon where later she met and married the love of her life, Ken Johnson.
Joan’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She had a special way of making everyone feel loved, often by preparing their favourite meal or dessert. No one ever left her home hungry.
Joan’s other passion was her work life. She spent many years at American Can and eventually working for the Town of Marathon where she retired. While there, she made some very dear friends who she always spoke so highly of.
Joan was also a wonderful friend to Rick and Lori’s close friends. Many cherished hours were spent at the Johnson home, where they, too, were welcomed with open arms and spoiled with delicious food and laughter.
Joan loved to spend time at the cottage on Hicks Lake with her family. She spent her time swimming, cooking and playing with her children and grandchildren.
Joan will sadly be missed by her daughter Lori (Don), grandchildren Justin (Krystal), great-granddaughter Emersyn; Patricia; daughter-in-law Pamela, grandchildren Keith (Corrine), great-grandchildren (Ella, Tessa, Macy); Joel (Kelli), great-grandchildren (Lily, Theo).
She is survived by brother and sisters-in-law Dave and Mandie Talarico, Don and Maria Talarico, Gary and Susan Talarico as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Ken Johnson, parents Oscar and Florence Talarico, son Rick, granddaughter Carla, brother Doug and sister Bev.
She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeview Community Hall, 2 Stevens Ave., Marathon, on Friday, August 8th at 1:00.
If friends so desire, memorial donation can be made to Marathon Peninsula Manor or a charity of choice.
