It is with extreme sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden unexpected passing of Jake Thomas Waller, who passed away peacefully in his sleep, at the young age of 32, a member of Fort William First Nation.

Jake attended St Anne’s, Pope John Paul, St. Pat’s High School, and Durham College. He worked at THP Variety, at Fort William First Nation as a summer student and with the Canadian Mental Health Association New Foundations Clubhouse. He also enjoyed playing hockey, golf and spending time on his computer.

Jake was an intelligent young man and was mechanically gifted, being able to fix dirt bikes, quads, and cars. As a child he was curious and did things his way. He wasn’t afraid to start a conversation with anyone and spent time at the Canadian Mental Health Association New Foundations Clubhouse socializing with friends. Thank you to the staff and professionals at the Canadian Mental Health Association who helped Jake throughout the years, your support is greatly appreciated. Jake had a big smile and was always giggling. Although he had some struggles in his life he remained happy and optimistic and was a great uncle to his niece and nephews.

His absence will be deeply felt by all those who knew him, especially his mom, with whom he shared a special bond.  He is survived by mom, Trudy (Kevin), dad Robert “Bert”, sister Serena (Jesse), brothers Robert “Buzza” (Kamryn) and Tyson (Miranda), niece Serenity and nephews Curtis and Kohen, grandma Linda Pelletier, Carol Whalen, step sisters Desiree and Lindsay, auntie Connie (Leonard) Charlie, uncle Rory (Anna) Pelletier and auntie Tammy (Leo) Bannon, cousins Mitchell (son Bryson) and Chad Charlie, Coral and Casey Pelletier, Ethan Pelletier, Lauren (girls, Lynnea, Leyna and Levi) and Lance (daughter, Saydee) Waller. Also survived by numerous extended family including many cousins, great aunts and uncles and friends.

He was predeceased by grandpa Thomas “Butch” Pelletier, grandma Beverly “Duz” Waller, uncles Harry and Trevor Pelletier and great grandparents.

Cremation has taken place, and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16th, at 11 am, at St. Anne’s Church on Fort William First Nation. Interment will be held at a later date. If friends desire, donations can be made to Canadian Mental Health Association New Foundations Clubhouse. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Blake’s Funeral Chapel.

Jake, you are a shining star, loved beyond words and missed beyond measure, until we meet again.
