On August 6, 2023, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather peacefully passed away with his family by his side. He has blessed us with lots of love, laughter and beautiful memories that we will treasure and carry in our hearts forever.

George Henry Thompson was born on January 4, 1938 in Port Arthur, Ontario to Florence (Miller) and Joseph Thompson. George met the love of his life, Dolores Rapino at Safeway where he was a master meat cutter. They married on November 15, 1958 and have shared 64 years of marriage. They were blessed with their daughter Judie and son Danny.

George and Dolores opened Midway Grocery (now known as Geroge's Market) on June 1, 1961, and George's Market was officially born on December 1, 1982. George had a huge love for his family, it was his purpose in life. His wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his entire world. Everything George did in his life was always centered around his family's happiness. George was a beloved man and a faithful child of God. George loved connecting with people. His other passions in life were gardening, fishing, telling jokes, camping at Bass Lake and travelling to Arizona and Maui with Dolores. George was a proud member of AA, being a long-standing member of 52 years.

George is survived by his wife Dolores, daughter Judie, son Danny (Charmaine), grandchildren Aaron (Lyndsay), Melanie, Danielle, Graysen, great-grandchildren Scarlett, Rory and Piper. George is predeceased by his father Joseph, mother Florence, brother Bruce, sister Ruth, great-grandson Mackenzie and in-laws who he cherished as both friends and family.

A celebration of George's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Corpus Christi R.C. Church with Rev. Rey Ronquillo officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Dew Drop Inn. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
