George D. Edwards, a Fort Albany First Nation - Treaty nine-member, husband of Elaine Edwards, father of six children, and Mooshum to nine grandchildren died suddenly on August 24th, 2023, at the age 52 years old.

George D. Edwards was born on June 16, 1971, to predeceased Michel and Madeline Edwards. He graduated from Lakehead University in 2012 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts and worked as an empathetic Glaude Program Manager for NAN Legal Services for nine years and exhibited great leadership. Previous to this position he served with Nishnawbe Aski Police Services for 10 years, as his passion was to help his First Nation people in being an exemplary constable. Prior to his career with NAPS, he continued his passion of helping others by being a Forest Fire Fighter with Ministry of Natural Resources.

George was a devoted husband, father and mooshum and a dedicated Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan. He was also an avid pool shark and gambler. He loved the outdoors fishing and being on the land. George was a non-judgmental person and showed his compassion to each living person and animal. He had the biggest heart and didn’t know the meaning of no. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Funeral Services for Mr. George D. Edwards will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Moose Hall, 434 Fort William Road. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, 690 Oliver Road, following the service. Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered at 836 Spring Street.
