In loving memory of Freda Karioja (nee Akervall) who passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025 at the age of 93. A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay and truly devoted member of her community. A Beautiful strong woman, well ahead of her time, retired teacher, proud member of Immanuel and Our Saviours Lutheran Church, proud member of the Scandinavian Home Society. Survived by her beautiful sisters Evelyn Heroux and Anna Akervall, Daughters Kim, Jill, Reija and Teryl, Grandchildren Robyn, Nickolas and Theoren, Her nieces, nephews and their children who she valued and loved so deeply. Predeceased by husband Peter Karioja, parents Anna and Unno Akervall, brother Henry Akervall. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home. Freda was known for her kindness, compassion, generosity and her passion to make the world a better place. Her life was dedicated to her family, friends, church , community and beyond.
