Mr. Dustin Chad Barkman, age 28 years and member of Sachigo Lake First Nation, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

Dustin was born in Thunder Bay on December 18, 1994 and worked various jobs throughout his life. He loved music, always playing his guitar and drums. His greatest passion was spending time with family. He was especially proud of his daughter and his siblings. Dustin's kindness, smile and big heart will be missed, but the memories shared with him will be cherished forever.

Dustin will be always remembered by his baby girl, daughter Adalyn Matawapit; his mother Sandra Barkman and step-father Robert Thunder; his siblings Charity Barkman, Hillary Barkman and Ronan Thunder as well as his niece Lucy Barkman. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends also survive.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Peter and Maria Barkman as well as several other relatives and extended family.

A Wake Service for Dustin will be held in Thunder Bay on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 11:00am until 1:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Bruce Shisheesh.

Dustin will then be transported home to Sachigo Lake First Nation where a Wake will be held beginning Thursday evening, in Emmanuel Pentecostal Church. The Funeral Service will be held in the Church on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 1:00pm, officiated by Pastor Albert McKay. Burial will follow in the new Sachigo Lake Community Cemetery.
