Janet Mary Adey-MacDonald (née Haigh) passed away in Terrace Bay on June 25, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born and raised in Port Arthur, Janet lived most of her life in Schreiber, ON and was involved actively in the community that she loved, generously volunteering her time and kindness to many clubs and committees.

Janet enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid berry picker and fisherwoman. She had far too many creative talents to list, but her greatest passion was feeding friends and family with something she had made in her kitchen.

Janet also loved music and sang in the North Shore Choir for 9 years, but perhaps her most lasting legacy will be her long teaching career where she impacted generations of students and built lifelong friendships with colleagues.

We take some comfort knowing that she has been reunited with many beloved family members who passed before her, including her brother, Lionel, and her parents, Les and Aurelienne.

We would like to extend special thanks to the friends and family and wonderful staff at the McCausland Hospital who looked after Janet with so much care over the last few months.

Janet is survived by her husband Jon, son Richard (Charleen), daughter Julie, grandson Declan, sister Theresa, stepson Bob, and stepdaughter Denise, as well as special nieces, nephews, and other extended family. We’ll carry her with us always, and try to live with even a fraction of the warmth, wit, and love that made her so unforgettable.

Please join us in celebrating Janet on Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Church in Schreiber. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Janet’s name to the McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay or Holy Angels Church in Schreiber.
