It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald John Grant, age 74 years, peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Friday, May 30, 2025.
Don was born in Fort William on April 23, 1951, beloved son of Lily (nee Heino) and Hugh Robert Grant. He never let his disabilities slow him down, and did workwooding at Arc Industries for many years. He didn't ask for much, but definitely loved going on coffee and donut dates with family and friends, and always enjoyed his favourite food, Spaghetti and Meatballs. He liked to travel, especially with Monelle and his memorable first trip on an airplane with Judi was exciting. Don was quiet and soft spoken, but could light up a room with his shy smile and kindness. He was truly a wonderful man and will be deeply missed by his relatives and Community Living family.
Don is survived by his brother, Peter Grant and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Lily and Hugh Grant as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
A special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers of Community Living Thunder Bay, especially Monelle, Cindy, Judi, Sam and Kyle for their kindness and comforting care provided to Don. He was so blessed to have you and the other residents as extended family.
A Celebration of Donald's Life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 with a come and go reception from 1:00pm until 3:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will take place in Mountainview Cemetery, where Don will be laid to rest with his parents.
Should friends so desire, donations made to Community Living Thunder Bay would be greatly appreciated.
