It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dante DiGiuseppe, age 80 years, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Castel Castagna, Teramo (Abruzzo) Italy, Dante was raised with his siblings in their family home and farm known as Forzieri. Later, Dante served in the Dragoni Reale Army after which he immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1966 and started working in construction the very next day. In 1967, he came to Port Arthur to support his widowed sister Italia and two young nephews Remo and Bruno. Again, he immediately started working in construction and commenced a lifelong career with DiGiuseppe Construction. He was a 50+ year member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur, a long-time manager of the Juventus Soccer Club and a member of the Carpenters Union. He, along with his close friend the late Father Lino Santi, founded the Regis Club (St. Anthony’s Young Adults Group) where he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed keeping family traditions alive like helping friends and family, making sausages and gardening.

Dante will be lovingly remembered by his friend Loana Bucciarelli and family, sisters Lidia DeAngelis, Italia D’Angelo, Gilda (Dominic) Guardiani, sister-in-law Rina DiGiuseppe and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Antonietta DiGiuseppe, two siblings in infancy, brother Gaetano DiGiuseppe, brothers-in-law Donato D’Angelo and Fioravante DeAngelis.
