Arthur (Art) John Mior 84 years passed away peacefully in Kenora at LWDH on June 9, 2025 with family at his bedside. Born in Port Arthur on January 8, 1941. Predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Mior, Christina his loving wife of 60 years and granddaughter Stephanie.

Art is survived by four sons, Mel (Sandra) and children, Jason, Andrew and great grandchildren Abigail and Liam; Derrick (Jan) and children Danielle and Ashley; Randy (Paula) and children Justin (Anne), Nicole and great grandson Noah, Greg (Donna) and children Dan (Sarah) and Brad (Melissa). Survived by sister Anne Antonen (Bruce), nephew Brian (Katherine), and niece Susan (Jim).

Art’s career started at the age of 15 in building construction, He later advanced to land development and property management having achieved accreditation in the Institute of Housing Management. In 2000, he retired after serving 12 years as General Manager of West Kenora District Housing Authority. He was a member of the Hospitality Ministry for Notre Dame du Portage Parish as well as the care and maintenance of the church for 20+ years, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly, Northwestern Independent Living Services, and City of Kenora Planning Advisory, Adjustments, and Property and Planning Committees.

He had many accomplishments including obtaining his high school diploma with honours, carpentry certificate, and commercial pilot license. He shared many stories from the skies to the water as he also loved being on the lake and fishing with his many friends and family. His smile was captured in the picture of the big one that didn’t get away!

Art was proud of his family and enjoyed the many visits. For the last four years, he cherished his nightly phone calls with his sister. Over the years he has been fortunate for the wonderful care from his many physicians and specialists. During his recent hospitalization, the compassion and support from the doctors, nurses, PT, housekeeping, dietary and anyone we missed is so appreciated. Thank you!

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday June 21, 2025 at 11:00am, Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Kenora.

Interment to follow in Thunder Bay at a later date.
