Adelheid (Heidi) Armstrong (nee Krebs, Schneider)

August 18, 1934 – November 29, 2023

Heidi passed away on November 29th at age 89. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and friend. She was born in the family farmhouse near Unterberg, Germany to Oswald and Kaete Schneider. That was home until the family had to leave during WWII. Heidi met and married Gerhard Krebs in 1959 and lived in Rochester, New York, for a few years, then moved to Michigan for a couple years before moving to Canada. Here they raised their four children, living in Kitchener for a time and then in Thunder Bay. Heidi’s husband Gerhard passed away unexpectedly in 1980 which was quite hard on the family. Heidi’s faith in the Lord and her close friends (Mrs. Plunkett, Linda Goodman and Rev. W. Parks and family) helped her through this difficult time. After a few years she met and married Jack Armstrong and together they made a life in Thunder Bay for a time and then moved to Elliot Lake. Age and declining health brought them back to Thunder Bay. Mom loved her family and always remembered each one with birthday and anniversary cards and would include an encouraging scripture verse. She loved staying connected to family via telephone calls. Mom loved to garden and always had a beautiful array of flowers. Even at Lakehead Manor during her final years, she would go to the patio during the warmer months and tend to the flower gardens.

Heidi was predeceased by her husband Gerhard in 1980, and her two brothers, Ewald and Wilfred of Rochester. She is survived by her husband Jack, her brother Reinhard, her sister Reini; her children Lynne (Jean), Bruni (Jon), Monica (Larry) and Dan (Lenise); Her grandchildren Clinton(Val), Lauren(Ryan), Cory, Kaitlyn, Nathan(Joy), Brooklyn(Jared), Taylor, Jordan, Aliyah; greatgrandchildren Ruby, Sadie, Rosie, Gwendolyn and Finnigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Heidi will be dearly missed by her family and by all who knew her.

Psalm 34:8, 18. “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him! The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”

A private family interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish to do so, contributions in memory of Heidi are suggested to Teen Challenge of Thunder Bay (https://teenchallenge.tc/donate/). Arrangements entrusted to Sargent and Son Funeral Home. Condolences and fond memories may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
