NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO — OPP in Northwestern Ontario saw a fairly stable number of calls for service last week compared to the week before.
There was a slight uptick in calls between April 7 and 13. Police responded to a total of 1,587 incidents in and around the communities of Dryden, Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Red Lake; this is an increase of just over two per cent across all four communities policed by the OPP compared to the previous week.
Officers responded to numerous eTicket occurrences, liquor licence control calls, unwanted persons and police assistance.
The slightly higher number of calls resulted in slightly fewer criminal charges being laid .A combined total of 347 criminal and Highway Traffic Act charges were laid, compared to almost 400 the week before.
The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system - Citizen Self Reporting (CSR). This can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for minor incidents and crimes.
