This last week has been a whirlwind for me. It comes directly from my own decisions to take on way too much, but here I am trudging through it all anyway. I’ve decided to call last week ‘Chaos week”.
Let me give you a quick rundown of what was going on...
I had agreed to work for elections Canada advance polls, had a blog post to write for a council I’d joined, had an article to write, a pitch for a producer about a show idea to polish up, renovations to pay for, insurance for me to practice as a paralegal to apply for, two meetings, and a kid and home to take care of simultaneously.
Also, my laptop broke.
And I was stuck at the legion for eight 12-hour days with no internet.
So yes, chaos week.
The laptop breaking was an absolute devastation for me. I do almost everything on it, and all of my passwords are comfortably saved on it. Half of the things I needed to do on that list were ruled out as a result. It is still not fixed, and I am currently working from my sister’s laptop that I’ve commandeered.
Honestly, the only way I got through last week was because of my mom who took care of my son for two days, and drove down to Ear Falls to deliver us food when I’d forgotten to pack us a lunch. And my ex-husband who had taken our son for two afternoons and cooked dinner, so I didn’t have to. And my boyfriend who took all of Monday to help with my boy as well as brought me his laptop to work on for a bit.
I am always blown away by the support I have. My life is already so hard just day to day, and then sometimes the projects I take on throw me for a bunch of loops. I am surrounded by an incredible family, and amazing friends who are always at my side pushing me ahead.
I have a couple of big projects on my horizons, and it has been a lot harder for me to keep it all together than I’d thought. I feel like I am working too hard at every end of the candle.
So far, I have caught up about half of that list, and this week I have been working through the rest.
And working at the legion with no internet all week did have one plus…
I finally buckled down and finished the 700-page book I’d started five months ago!
