It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Thomas Peter Pinese, age 66, unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

Thomas was born on February 11, 1958 in Fort William, Ontario to Louie and Katherine Pinese (nee Connors). He was educated locally and was employed for over 30 years with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 793, where he was a Heavy Equipment Operator. Tom also worked on the tugs, drove truck and worked for many construction and mechanic companies during his lifetime.

In his younger years, Tom drove late models. He was #4 and was loved around the track. Tom’s love for the outdoors such as camping, fishing and playing with his toys, as he called them, continued until the last years of his life. Tom loved to travel, often taking his family on trips to the States. Tom loved riding the side by side’s and adventuring. When he was younger, he spent a lot of time snowmobiling with his family. He had a larger than life personality and his volume was always on 100. Tom’s last years were spent working, as retirement just wasn’t for him. He spent his summers at the family camp with his tiniest best friend, his beloved granddaughter Berlynn who he lovingly nicknamed Bubble. He loved and cherished all of his grandchildren but he had a special bond with Devon, Baby Dev as he called him, and Bubble. We will all miss him every day. Tom was an avid race fan and the love for the race stayed with him up until the very end. Tom loved his dog, Gemma (The Bonehead, head of the bone), and where he was, she wasn’t too far behind. He was hard working and his work ethic was incredibly strong. He could build or fix anything he put his hands on.

Thomas is survived by his children Shannon (Kevin), Shainah (James), Nicole, Freedom and Edwin. He is also survived by the love of his life, his baby doll, Pamela-Lynn. His grandchildren Ethan, Devon, Kaleb, Berlynn, Jaymesin and baby Kenndrick. His only sister Kathy (Larry Randle) and nephew Cody as well as great-nephew Watson. Special friends Laura and Don Young, Fred Kelly, John Muylaert, Bryan Wyer and life long friends Victor Stadey and Dave Frederickson Sr.

He was predeceased by his parents, Louie and Katherine Pinese as well as his sister-in-law Lila Tabachak and many other loved ones.

Funeral services for Thomas Pinese will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11:00 am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. A video recording of the service will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website beginning on Thursday afternoon. Interment will follow in Mountainview Cemetery where Tom will be laid to rest with his parents.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Tom to the Toronto Sick Kids Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
