It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved mother Theresa Zablotny, passed peacefully from this world to join our heavenly Father on April 5th, 2024 at Hogarth Riverview Manor.  She was born March 13, 1926 in Fort William to Angelina and Bruno Montagnese and recently celebrated her 98th birthday joyfully with her family and close friends.

In her youth, she attended St. Peters elementary school and Selkirk High School then started work at Supreme Cleaners and later at Sears in shipping and receiving. A young handsome man from Westfort, Maurice Zablotny, captured her heart at a dance in the East end and they were married in 1947. Theresa was devoted to her Catholic faith and a member at St. Agnes Church. She had a quiet humble heart of service which she demonstrated by her generosity and sharing her delectable cooking and baking. Sundays were always very special with family gatherings, either at home or picnics that consisted of lasagna, spaghetti, meatballs, cabbage rolls, and homemade cinnamon buns to name a few.

She will be deeply missed and cherished by her daughter Gail Moro (Dan) and sons, Donald and Raymond (Carmen), granddaughter, Marina Moro (Yousif Gabrail), grandsons, Eric and Scott (Kristin) Zablotny and nieces and nephew, Mary Lou Bernardi, Rick Gollat, Donna Gollat, Joanne Dewar, Paul Montagnese, Judy Novak, Marilyn Slobodian, Gerald and Michael Kruppa. Theresa is predeceased by her husband, Maurice, sister Josephine Gollat, brothers Domenic and Ralph Montagnese. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor Birch Grove who cared for our mother the last 3 years. You all became her family and your loving care made her time there enjoyable.

A Mass will be celebrated in memory of Theresa on Friday, April 12 at 12:10 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1019 Brown St, Thunder Bay, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Reception to follow the service in the church hall. Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery immediately following the reception. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Heart and Stroke Foundation or plant a tree at A Living Tribute in care of the Blake Funeral Chapel
