With great sorrow we announce the passing of Theodore "Ted" Harasymchuk, age 71 years, on Thursday, February 17, 2022 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Ted was born in Fort William, Ontario on December 12, 1950 to Matilda "Tillie" (nee Presunka) and Walter Harasymchuk. He loved to go fishing and enjoyed playing many instruments. He especially looked forward to entertaining friends and family with his "tsymbala" during special occasions such as holidays and weddings. Ted was very proud of his Ukrainian Heritage. In his youth, he was a dancer with the Vesnianka Ukrainian Dancers.
Ted shared whatever he had with those in need, and often had someone living in his house or giving rides when needed. He was good-natured and a loving son, brother, stepfather, grandfather and friend.
Ted will be deeply missed by his sister, Lesia Connie Hurlbert (Fred); nephew Michael Hurlbert and nieces Tracy Hurlbert, Shanna Hurlbert and Dawn Hamilton as well as his great nephew Sameer Hurlbert-Kumar. Ted will also be greatly missed by step children Beth Ponka and Rick Fedorick as well as his grandchildren Matthew, Ken and Katie Ponka, all of whom he loved deeply. He was predeceased by his parents.
As per Ted's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and interment will be held at a later time. Arrangements have been entrusted to WESTFORT FUNERAL CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
If friends desire, memorial donations in memory of Ted to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
Mnohaya Lita
