Riccardo Colosimo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Riccardo, on January 18 2023 at St Michaels Hospital in Toronto at the age of 81 years old. He will be leaving behind his beloved wife Teresa, with whom he had been married to for 35 beautiful years. Riccardo was the cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was a father figure to many, but he especially was to two nieces in Thunder Bay, Silvana and Diana Rucchin and Loredana and Maria in Toronto who he treated as his own. Riccardo loved all his family near and far. He had many nieces and nephews in Australia, Italy, and Thunder Bay and they cherished every minute with him.

Riccardo arrived in Canada in 1967 where he lived with his sister Elvira and brother-in-law Carlo Ristagno until he married Teresa in 1987 and that is when their true love story began. Riccardo had many passions, gardening was one in which he loved to share all his harvest with all his family and friends. He continued all of his Italian traditions, making sausages in the winter and making jars of sauce in the summer and many other canning preservatives for all to enjoy.

Riccardo and Teresa would do their road trips twice a year when possible to Thunder Bay where he would visit with all his extended family. Thunder Bay was his second home, he never complained about the distance he said he enjoyed the drive. He opened his home countless times for visitors outside of Toronto. He was the epitome of hospitality. He was truly loved by everyone he met and who knew him. Once you met him you would never forget him, always full of life joking and laughing never complained about anything.

Riccardo was the dear brother of Peter, Ottavio, Domenico, Vincenzo, Gaspere, Guiseppe, Saverio, Rosina, Michelina, Angelina, Elvira and Ida. In Thunder Bay, Son in law to Angelina Scalzo, brother in law to Giuseppe Scalzo(Franca), Maria Rucchin, Franca De Luca(Antonio), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Gabrielle and Maria Colosimo. Father in law Giovanni Scalzo, Uncle and Aunt Pietro & Teresa Marasco, brother in laws Antonio Scalzo and Edoardo Rucchin and nephew in infancy Giuseppe (little Joey) De Luca.

Services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland St., at 10:30 a.m. to St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, 123 Hilldale Rd. where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Luigi Filippini at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with prayers at 3:00 p.m. For those unable to attend in person, the funeral mass will be streamed live at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca where condolences may be offered as well.

Our hearts are broken and a part of us went with him. Heaven has gained another angel and he is watching over us all.
