It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Collin Yurick on April 30th 2024 with family by his side at the age of 78.

Peter was born in Hamilton on February 26 1946,  but made his life in Thunder Bay. He started out working at a very early age and never quit working until his retirement in 2011.

He held various jobs but was most proud of his job as a “professional” truck driver with Bowater he had an impressive work ethic and taught us all that we needed to show up and work hard.

He had a great sense of humour and along with that came an infectious smile and an even more captivating laugh. He never missed an opportunity to boast about his family and he always took it upon himself to broaden his grandchildrens vocabulary and teach them "life lessons "as he called it.

He was a firm believer in a rich life has nothing to do with money, and as such he enjoyed the simple things in life. He was happiest at camp with family and friends where he had the time and could tell his long winded stories. He was usually found making inappropriately large fires or sitting in the sun on the front deck “supervising”as he called it. It was by far his favourite place and made him feel like the richest man in the world.

He ran a tight neighbourhood watch program both at camp and home, nothing got by him. He always provided for his family and very rarely said no, he had the biggest softest heart and he loved with all of it.

He never missed the chance to have a long goodbye because you never knew if it was the last one. He would stand in the window with the biggest wave or wherever he was until he couldn’t see you anymore. Well here we are on the longest goodbye .

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Claudette, son Roger(Nicole),daughter Jocelyn(Brian) Karusewicz. Grandchildren Colton, Regan,Emmett,Lexi Yurick, Scarlet and Anders Karusewicz. Brothers Roger(Chris) Jan(Linda),sisters Judy (Chris) Baker, Debbie(Sal) Gallo and sister in law Pam Yurick. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Larry,Fraser,Terry and Billy.

There will be no service as per his wishes , cremation has taken place. If friends/family so desire donations can be made to the healthsciencesfoundation.ca in his memory.

The family would personally like to thank anyone who came into his life and made it a better place, we extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr DelPaggio and staff .

To know him was to love him, until we meet again
