On July 19, 2025, Mary Melnyk, 95 years, passed away peacefully holding her loving daughter's hand. During her final days she was surrounded by the love and laughter of her family.

Born Mary Plesh in Ashville (Gilbert Plains), MB, her family moved to Fort William, ON when she was a young teen, residing at their Plesh General Store on Island #2 (Mission Island). With an employment history from Coopers to Rutledges to ManPower to the Lakehead University Bookstore, she was dedicated and hard-working. But, "Grandma or GG" was by far her favourite and most

fulfilling role of all. Always present with her generous funny caring ways. Like a treasured gift, being with her felt like being wrapped in the sweetest love there is.

No matter who you were, her door was always open, her table always shared, her shoulder supportive, her humour enjoyed and her love in abundance. Mary leaves behind a Legacy of Love with her family, a Legacy of Kindness with her friends, and a Legacy of Sweetness with many.

Survived by her daughter Lori Fleming (Bob); son Gary Melnyk (Sheryl); grandsons Kyle Melnyk (Cindy), Ryan Melnyk (Tamara), Travis Fleming (Jennifer), Carter Fleming (Erica); brother Walter Plesh (Bernice); great-grandchildren Autumn, James, Chloe, Jonathan and Hunter. As well as nieces, nephews, extended families and special loved ones. Predeceased by husband Michael (Mike) Melnyk; parents Michael and Anne Plesh; grandson Brandon Melnyk; great-grandson Tyson Fleming.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Feldstein and the amazing staff of Hogarth Riverview Manor 3 South Daisy for the exceptional care, support, kindness and friendship shown over the years. Mary shared a sweet delightfully entertaining camaraderie with staff, residents and visitors.

Cremation has taken place and as per Mary's wishes, there will be no service.

Remember Mary in fondness for her beautiful heart and soul.
