Ms. Mary-Anne Zimmer, age 68 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at St. Joe’s Hospital with family by her side on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025. Born on August 21st, 1956, she grew up in Ottawa. It wasn’t long before she spread her wings and started exploring the rest of Canada. She settled in Lethbridge, Alberta and raised her family there. She moved to Thunder Bay in 2016 and enjoyed employment as an Administrative Assistant working with her daughter at Synergy Property Management. She was a key figure there until December 2021, when she retired.
Mary-Anne was a loving and kind person. She enjoyed watching old Black and White movies, and bird-watching. She loved her apartment at St. Paul’s Place on Secord Street in Thunder Bay, where she had a view of Lake Superior and could watch the big ships come and go. She enjoyed a good tuna sandwich and an ice cold beer. She was a good cook, often making spaghetti sauce and various salads for her family to enjoy. Her family-recipe potato salad will be missed.
Mary-Anne is survived by her daughter, Teri (John) and grandsons Solomon and Soren, and her son Adam. In Heaven she will be greeted by her Mom, her partner Lyle, and her son Jacob, who passed away when he was just five. A happy reunion.
A memorial service will occur in Ottawa in 2026. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Care Group would be appreciated.
