The family of Joseph Frederick Hawryluk are saddened to announce his passing on January 17th, 2023, at the age of 89.

Born in Kaministiquia on January 5th, 1934, to Fred and Mary Hawryluk along with brothers William and Jack, Joe enjoyed growing up at the family homestead working hard and playing hard.

A long-time resident of Current River, Joe married Rose (Kuznak) and helped to raise daughters Holly and Rosemarie. He worked as a Millwright at Abitibi Price Thunder Bay Division until his retirement in 1996.

Joe is survived by his daughters Holly (Ron) Rosemarie (Bill) and grandchildren Clarissa (Blake) Vaughan (Maya) and fur babies Pablo and Mya. Also, by brother Bill.

Predeceased by his wife Rose, parents, and brother Jack.

We would like to thank Dr. Stewart Kennedy for his exemplary care throughout the years. Also, our gratitude to David and Wendy Hamlin for always being there, for your constant support, kindness, and the friendship that Joseph cherished. As well, we thank Clarissa for helping out whenever needed. You and Guido had a special bond, and he smiled every time he saw you or heard your name spoken.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your favourite animal charity.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
