Mr. John Otto Naef, age 59, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully with family by his side at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

John was born on August 13, 1963 in Port Arthur, Ontario to parents Paul and Elizabeth Naef. He worked in Human Resources for many years, before retiring at a young age.

John enjoyed being at camp, fishing, and coaching hockey. He was a simple man, spending his days with family and friends at his favourite hangouts brought him the most joy.

John will be missed by his siblings: Paul Naef, Sharon (Bill) Daniels, Catherine (Neil) Britton, and Karen (Robert) Simmons; nieces and nephews Thomas (Arjean) Britton, Wendy (Aaron) Gaudette, Liz Simmons, Noah Daniels and Jonah Daniels; as well as by great nieces and nephews Brandon, Ayden, Chayse, Maddox, Callum, MacKenzie and Coen. John will also be missed by his good friends: Brenda and Richard Landry, Brad Bonazzo, John Ramito, Tony P., John Condack and Doug Lukaway.

He was predeceased by his grandparents John and Pauline Naef and Otto and Helen Purje; parents Paul and Elizabeth Naef; his aunt Ruth Naef; uncle Robert Purje; fur baby Lady; and most recently, his great nephew Tucker Gaudette.

The family would like to thank the first responders, as well as the individual who stayed with him until he was transported to the hospital.

Cremation has taken place with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue of choice.
