Mrs. Giselda Di Eugenio, age 99 years, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospice on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
Giselda was born in Teramo, Italy on August 10, 1925. She met Donato Di Eugenio and they were married in Italy, and started their family before immigrating to Canada in 1959. Once in Canada, Giselda worked in a Laundromat for over 25 years supporting her family. She was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Church. Giselda enjoyed gardening and sitting in her backyard soaking up the sun. She was a quiet woman who enjoyed the simple life. Giselda adored her three grandsons and cherished all six great-grandchildren. She also always looked forward to talking to her son Enio, who called her every day at noon.
Giselda will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter Mimma (Dave) Siczkar, son Enio (Cindy) Di Eugenio and son-in-law Reg Ritson; grandchildren Joe (Leanne) Ritson, Ken (Jaclyn) Ritson and Cody Siczkar as well as her great grandchildren Sydney, Jake and Luke Ritson, Reed, Mackenzie and Gina Ritson. She is also survived by her one sister, Mary, in Italy and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family here and in Italy.
She was predeceased by his her beloved husband Donato Di Eugenio, daughter Gina Ritson and son Alvaro Di Eugenio; as well as her parents and siblings Pietro, Pasquale, Giovanni and Dominic De Amicis.
A service to celebrate the life of Giselda Di Eugenio will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 1:30pm in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma. A private entombment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.
