Mr. Douglas Neil Brown, age 98 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Monday, January 9, 2023.

Doug was born in Shoal Lake Manitoba on September 17, 1924, the son of John and Lillian Brown. He proudly served in the military during WWII, as a Gunner. After the war, Doug worked various jobs throughout Manitoba. Eventually, work brought him to Fort William, first with Barnett McQueen before starting his employment with the grain elevators. He was proud to have been able to complete the requirements for an Industrial Mechanic Millwright in 1980 and retired from Saskatchewan Wheat Pool 15 in 1989.

While Doug fell short of his goal to live to 100 years of age, his life was truly full and we cherish the many memories that were formed and the stories shared. He will be deeply missed.

Dad loved puttering in his yard and was often seen trimming his hedge, which he was proud of. He also enjoyed doing numbered puzzle books and jig saw puzzles. Doug also enjoyed his Sunday night bowling at Superior Bowladrome until he turned 90. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion – Kakabeka Branch for many years, and was always excited to help at the Bingos.

Doug is survived by his son Rob and daughter-in-law Marjorie, as well as many nieces and nephews in Western Canada. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne; his son Douglas Jr.; his parents and siblings.

Cremation has taken place and no service will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Douglas to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
