With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Cvetka Drcar, who peacefully left this world at the age of 90, with family by her side on Friday, August 22, 2025. Her departure leaves a great void in the lives of all who knew her, and her family and friends will feel her absence profoundly.
Born in Prebukovje, Hrvatska, Jugoslavija, Cvetka made the journey to Port Arthur in 1956 where she found work at the Port Arthur General Hospital as Nursing Aid. She met her husband, Joseph, in Port Arthur and they married in 1959. Cvetka’s entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic led to the start of a successful cleaning business at the Port Arthur Clinic which she and Joseph ran for many years until her retirement.
Cvetka loved trees and flowers and spent countless hours working in her beautiful backyard, tending the vegetable garden and feeding the many birds that shared this space. Her home was always open to friends and family and Cvetka took great pleasure in offering homemade meals to anyone who stopped by. Her special strudel and potica brought joy and comfort to those who were fortunate enough to gather there. Cvetka was a wonderful host making everyone feel at home and her compassion and generous nature endeared her to many.
Cvetka was the heart of her family, giving unconditional and boundless love to her children, grandchildren and all those who became part of her extended family. Her loss will be deeply felt by her beloved family and friends: her children Joseph (Kathleen), Sandra Leonetti (Donato), and Roger (Jane); her treasured grandchildren Kaitlyn, Tyler (Alyssa), Samantha, and Alexandria Leonetti; as well Cvetka is survived by niece and nephews in Canada, Slovenia and Croatia. Cvetka was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph, her parents, and siblings in Slovenia and Croatia.
A celebration of Cvetka’s life will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew’s R.C. Church, with Rev. Joseph Arockiam officiating. Friends are invited to join and pay their respects in the church one hour prior to the service. Following the mass, she will be laid to rest in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
The family respectfully asks for donations to a charity of your choice or encourages you to plant a tree or flower in her memory, as a lasting tribute to her love of life and nature.
