SIOUX LOOKOUT – Officers with the Sioux Lookout OPP were taken for a ride after observing an SUV driving without headlights or taillights illuminated.

According to the OPP, on the evening of March 3, officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver fled from police.

Officers located the SUV in the community of Alcona, where they found that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into an area of dense bush.

Shortly later, police located the driver, who was arrested.

As a result, a 17-year-old from the Municipality of Sioux Lookout was charged with possession of a substance for trafficking, dangerous driving, fleeing a police officer, possession of property obtained by crime, and failure to comply with a release order and undertaking.

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on March 5.
