Worker injured at Emo sawmill

A Dryden man was rushed to a Winnipeg hospital on May 28 and had surgery on his arm. The Labour ministry is investigating.

EMO – A Dryden man was severely injured in a workplace accident May 28 at Manitou Forest Products.

The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development confirmed by email Thursday night that it “was notified of an injury to a worker in Emo” on May 28.

“It was reported that a worker was injured while using machinery,” according to the email.

The email said a workplace inspector has been assigned and “the ministry’s investigation is ongoing.”

The ministry added that no further information will be made available while the investigation is conducted.

Manitou Forest Products had not returned calls and emails for comment as of Friday morning.
