ATIKOKAN — OPP in Atikokan have pressed charges against an alleged drug-impaired driver.

On Saturday evening, officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 11 after it was observed crossing the centre line.

The officer suspected the driver might be impaired and conducted a standardized field sobriety test.

The driver failed the test and was arrested, and a drug recognition exam was completed at the Atikokan OPP detachment.

As a result of the investigation, it was discovered that the driver was violating judicial release conditions.

The 57-year-old woman from Atikokan was charged with impaired operation of alcohol or drugs, refusing to comply with a demand, possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine), and two counts of failing to comply with a release order other than to attend court.

As a result, the accused's driver's license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Police held the accused and have a bail hearing scheduled for later this week in the Thunder Bay Ontario Court of Justice.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
