Winnipeg resident identified as victim of fatal highway crash

Three vehicles were involved in the Highway 17 crash west of Kenora on Monday night.

A Winnipeg resident was killed after a fatal highway crash west of Kenora.

Provincial police issued an update Tuesday afternoon, following the Monday night crash on Highway 17 near Bruma Road.

In the update, police said it was a three-vehicle collision, with a pickup truck towing a trailer involved along with two sport utility vehicles.

A 24-year-old from Winnipeg was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the other sport utility vehicle were taken to a Kenora hospital, but have since been transferred to a hospital in Winnipeg. Their injuries are considered serious but not life threatening.

The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.

The investigation is ongoing, with the OPP's North West Region traffic incident management and enforcement team and technical traffic collision investigators involved.
