Weagamow Lake investigation results in criminal charges

WEAGAMOW LAKE – Four individuals have been charged following an investigation by the Weagamow Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). 

The Weagamow Lake OPP initiated an investigation on June 12, after an individual was assaulted at a residence on Weagamow Lake First Nation. 

As a result, 26-year-old Chad Kakayash, of Weagamow Lake was arrested charged with Assault with a Weapon and two counts of Breach of Probation. 

Kakayash was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on June 19. 

Three other individuals from Weagamow Lake have also been charged with various offences and will appear in court in North Caribou Lake First Nation on Aug. 24 to answer to the charges.
