A Kenora man wanted since last month by Ontario Provincial Police in connection with a Sept. 25 assault in Dryden has been apprehended, police report.

Brenden Fisher, 23, of Kenora, was arrested in Sioux Lookout on Oct. 8 by OPP officers with the local detachment, the police force said in a statement issued Thursday.

Fisher faces charges of aggravated assault and of robbery with a weapon.

He was remanded into custody and was set to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Kenora Regional Bail Court on Thursday to answer to the charges.

OPP officers with the Dryden detachment had responded to a report of an assault around 10:23 a.m. on Sept. 25. Police and paramedics from Northwest EMS arrived at the scene on King Street to find one person with serious injuries, and transported them to hospital.

The victim was treated for serious injuries and later released from hospital, said an OPP spokesperson.

Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Fisher.

The OPP had appealed to the public for information and to report any sightings of Fisher and not to approach him, while police also said they believed the assault was an “isolated incident.”

The force thanked the public for its assistance in its statement Thursday.
