Ignace – Get your walking shoe on once again for Darlene Necan’s annual Walk against Nuclear Waste Burial.

Necan will start her journey in Ignace on Sept. 1, in front of the NWMO Learn More Centre at 10 a.m. and then travel west to the City of Dryden and turn north to Sioux Lookout.

Walkers and supporters are asked to gather at 9 a.m. to smudge and prepare for the walk.

She will pass the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s candidate site for a deep geological repository.

Ms. Necan, an elder and Headman with the Ojibway Nation of Saugeen No. 258, has led the walk for two previous years.

To follow her progress, tune into “No Nuclear Waste on Treaty Lands” on Facebook.
