WABIGOON LAKE – January’s warm conditions mean that motorists now have to take the long way around Wabigoon Lake.
The Wabigoon Ice Road has been closed until further notice due to safety concerns related to the exceptionally warm weather experienced throughout most of January.
Ice road operators said in a social media post on Friday that the road will remain closed until return of cold weather and thicker ice.
The closure will address safety concerns and prevent further road damage during mild temperatures.
