Issues with the water system in Wabaseemoong won't be resolved right away.
The community issued an update on Thursday, where it said that more damages to the pump house have been discovered after an issue in late December led to diesel contamination.
Officials said the community is looking at a plan to implement a temporary by-pass pump from the water treatment plant to the water tower. While that would bring back running water, boil water advisories would be in effect.
The update said the temporary by-pass would likely take four weeks to be implemented, which includes three weeks of waiting for parts, and then installation and monitoring.
The initial water disruption prompted a partial evacuation. The statement said those who have been displaced will remain in their locations in Winnipeg or Kenora.
Leadership is in planning with multiple partners, including Indigenous Services Canada, to create a long-term schedule to address all of the issues.
