KENORA — Residents of Kenora, avid Walleye fishermen, and the Region were encouraged to register for one of Ontario’s Lake of the Woods round-table discussions, on the “Management of recreational Walleye fishing on the Lake", on several days in March.

They also asked participants to share their feedback on the management on this topic.

The session will be held virtually on March 8 and March 22 at 7 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. CST, with a third session to be added in March, so stay tuned for details.

Interested participants are asked to sign up at: https://www.eventbrite.com/.../lake-of-the-woods-walleye...

The event will feature several well-known professionals and government officials such as Dave Smith, parliamentary assistant to NDMNF, Minister Greg Rickford, who will join several guest speakers for a public engagement session regarding Walleye management of Lake of the Woods.

Featured guest speakers will also include Steve Bobrowicz, Fisheries Specialist for the Northwest Region; Blair Wasylenko, Provincial Aquatics Monitoring Lead, from Biodiversity and Monitoring Section; and Dak deKerckhove, Research Scientist, from Aquatic Research and Monitoring Section.

This virtual presentation will deal with the management of recreational walleye fishing on Lake of the Woods, a topic both timely and important given the growing interest and concern over protecting the environment and our lakes.
