FORT FRANCES – Originating on the Fort Frances Rant and Rave Facebook page, a social media post referencing a potential abduction of nine females went viral earlier this week, which caused the OPP to investigate.

One post claims that their daughter was among those nine women who were kidnapped. The post also claims that people who are of Middle Eastern origins were the assailants.

However, the Rainy River OPP District Detachment is reporting that none of these claims are true.

Officers have investigated the claim of a potential human trafficking ring in Fort Frances and they have concluded the allegation to be false.

In a media release, the OPP consulted with partner agencies including the U.S. and Canadian border agencies and confirmed that this incident did not occur.

The OPP has stated there is no concern for public safety.
