ATIKOKAN — Alex Sampson's nervousness didn't stop him from making another strong impression on his second appearance on America's Got Talent on Tuesday evening.
Although he wowed the judges again, he now must count on votes from the TV audience to get him through to the semi-finals.
The results will be announced on the show Wednesday evening.
In the quarter-finals, 20-year-old Sampson performed another original song, "If You Were My Girl."
Simon Cowell said he thought the young Canadian was nervous, but was quick to add he had "come from nowhere" to create a lane for himself with his unique sound that echoes singers from the 1950s or 60s.
Cowell told Sampson "the audience is really going to like you."
Other judges called him "a gem" and "a star," while fellow Canadian Howie Mandel described him as "amazing," and predicted he "will go all the way" in the competition.
Results of audience voting will be released live on Wednesday evening's telecast, at 8 o'clock EDT.
