DRYDEN — Unifor workers at the Princess Court long-term care home in Dryden have voted in favour of a new contract.
The union on Thursday announced the 120 members of Unifor Local 324-14 voted 93 per cent in favour of the three-year agreement with the District of Kenora Homes for the Aged.
The new contract, which is retroactive to June 1, includes annual wage increases of 2.8 per cent, along with increased shift differentials, enhanced benefits, and increased shoe and uniform allowances.
"As indicated by the strong support in today's vote, Unifor members in Dryden were very pleased with the solid monetary gains and language improvements achieved in this new contract. It provides much needed stability for our members as they continue to focus on providing critical services during this extremely challenging pandemic,” Unifor national representative Stephen Boon said in a written statement.
Unifor Local 324 president Katrina Peterson commended the work of the bargaining committee.
"Despite ongoing funding challenges, we are pleased to see that our healthcare members in Dryden have secured a solid agreement with a number of key improvements and wage increases at the upper end of the provincial range for the sector," Peterson said in a statement.
The new contract runs through May 31, 2025.
