SIOUX LOOKOUT — Unifor members at Sioux Towers will receive a new three-year deal in which personal support workers will see a three per cent annual wage increase on top of the $3 hourly provincial wage enhancement.

Unifor National Representative Stephen Boon said the new deal for the nearly 20 workers at the support living facility, along with the provincial wage enhancement, “will go a long way to help recruit and retain qualified staff at Sioux Towers.”

The new deal runs from Jan. 1 until Dec. 31, 2024, and includes a 15-cent increase in all shift differentials, six weeks of vacation after 20 years of service, a $50 increase in shoe allowance, increased vision care to $350, improved call-in pay, and ability to break up two weeks of vacation.

"Unifor has negotiated a number of solid health care agreements across Northwestern Ontario over the last number of months," Unifor Local 324 president Katrina Peterson said.

"We are pleased to see our members in Sioux Lookout join that growing list and secure solid wage increases at the upper end of the provincial range for the sector."
