SIOUX LOOKOUT — OPP in Sioux Lookout has arrested two on drug trafficking charges.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Seventh Avenue on Tuesday around 10 p.m. because the vehicle had a malfunctioning headlight, and failed to stop for a stop sign.

Through investigation, the officers determined that the attached plate was not authorized for the vehicle, and neither of the two occupants could produce a valid driver's license.

While preparing the vehicle to be towed after the unauthorized plates were removed, officers located and seized suspected cocaine and large amounts of Canadian currency.

The pair of 18-year-olds, both from Winnipeg, have been arrested and charged with drug trafficking offences and Highway Traffic Act violations.

Police report that both accused remain in police custody and will appear in Kenora Ontario Court of Justice Bail court on May 22, 2024.

This investigation is ongoing.

If you have any information about the trafficking of illicit substances, call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
