FORT FRANCES, ON — Ontario Provincial Police have laid weapons-related and drug-related charges against three men and a youth.
The four accused were apprehended just after midnight on Sunday, Oct. 9 after a vehicle was observed being driven erratically on Highway 11 just east of Fort Frances.
Officers seized weapons and drugs including suspected methamphetamine, a centre-fire bolt-action rifle, an Airsoft replica pump shotgun, five Airsoft replica handguns and two Airsoft replica military rifles.
A 44-year-old Thunder Bay man is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to comply with a release order, being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, and possession of methamphetamine.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing in Fort Frances on Tuesday.
A 20-year-old Thunder Bay man, a 60-year-old man from Dryden, and a youth who can't be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, and possession of methamphetamine.
All three were released by police pending a court appearance on Dec. 5.
